A Christmas Carol has always been one of my favourite movies. My mom gave me this version of it on vhs one year for Christmas. I miss her ❤🙏

Absolutely the greatest version - George C Scott is the GOAT

Actually, this was the *next* to final scene. The story ended with Scrooge declaring he'll raise Bob's salary, help Tiny Tim become well again, and eventually find a position for Peter Cratchit in his firm......but first, he and Cratchit will celebrate Christmas Day over "a bowl of smoking bishop" {hot wine, floating orange and lemon slices, and assorted spices}. The narrator wraps up the story by describing Scrooge's bright future [and Tiny Tim's]- and, as Tim has observed........"God bless us all- *EVERYONE."*

I grew up watching David Warner and his characters. At times he scared me in his character but in this movie I was sympathetic to his ability to be so human. RIP in Peace David Warner.

Scott’s portrayal of Scrooge is second only to Alastair Sim’s great portrayal of London’s famous fictional miser; in my opinion.

I've watch Several Versions of A Christmas Carol I would Say I like the 1951 Version with (Alaster Cook) would be Ranked as 1 then this 1984 Version with (George C. Scott) at 2 the 1972 Musical Version with (Albert Finney) at Number 3 and the 2004 Musical Version with (Kelsey Grammer) at Number 4 the 1935 Version is a Bit to Old to Look at because the Quality of the Film was Lost do to Age and there not Saving it and Restoring it in Time even though they still Show it Year after Year the Animated Versions are well Animated None are better than the Others IMO.

George C Scott is the best Ebenezer Scrooge!

The most amazing thing about this film is seeing David Warner play a good guy, lol.

Scrooge’s character was not an evil sociopath with no love but a man who was terrified of love (the death of sister he never got over) and ran away from it into the hard headed world of money.

The best runner-up, imo, to the Alistair Sim version.

One of my favorite movies during christmas.

Alastair Sim, Patrick Stewart and George C. Scott played Scrooge as he was written.

One of the very best versions of this classic. George C. Scott and David Warner are excellent, as is the actor who plays the Ghost of Christmas Present.

His apologising to Fred and Janet being expanded is one of the brilliant things of this version. Dickens only ended the scene with Fred inviting him and that was it, but the script was really wholesome for this adaptation.

I just finished watching this on DVD. I’ve watched every year on Dec. 24th for over 35 years.

Not sure if I would be totally happy about his radical change or extremely confused!😂 wait this isn’t my Uncle !
